The information technology services divisions encourage more of an enterprise perspective on how Nebraska embraces technology. This enterprise perspective is manifested in both operations- and policy-oriented activities. Some examples are listed in the following text:
Working with the Nebraska Information Technology Commission's (NITC's) State Government Council, the information technology services divisions are identifying and developing shared services. These are services that agencies believe are very likely to be shared among themselves, and thus a common definition and operational implementation are likely to benefit the state as a whole.
The NITC adopts standards and guidelines that provide direction for a more effective and efficient implementation of technologies throughout the state. As a matter of policy, these regulations help the operational entities throughout state government develop a common approach to many technology issues.
